Ingredient Deep-Dive
Chicory Root Inulin: What the Research Actually Shows
Inulin is a soluble fibre that passes through the small intestine undigested and gets fermented in the colon — a well-established mechanism. Where products differ is dose.
The mechanism, briefly
Once fermented by colon bacteria, inulin generates short-chain fatty acids and specifically feeds bifidobacteria populations. This is genuinely well-documented, uncontested science.
The dose question
Published research on inulin's appetite and satiety effects generally uses multi-gram doses — often 5-10g or more per day. A capsule containing 211mg is roughly one to two percent of that research range.
Mechanism validityWell established
Typical research dose5,000-10,000mg
Typical capsule dose~200mg
The honest read: a capsule-scale inulin dose contributes to the microbiome, but it isn't dosed to match the appetite/satiety research it's often marketed alongside.
